one month of fasting Ramadhan has gone.. may Allah accept our fast and continues to shower His blessings throughout the year infact throughout life, Ameen! and yippie, yesterday all Muslims in the world celebrated Eid ul Fitr. wish you all a very Happy Eid Mubarak!!!! *you can check the link to know what Eid Mubarak is.
usually we celebrate Eid until several days. first day Eid, we wakeup in the morning. mom busy arranging cakes and food that she prepared one week before Ramadhan ends, then go to mosque together with family to pray Eid, then greet all people in mosque to say sorry and forgive each other if we have many mistakes, then go home.
when go home, we do "Sungkem". Sungkem is the tradition to say sorry to our family, that the younger apologies to the oldest. that's why, usually in Eid, the people who moved to other city because married or have job, will back to their parent's home to celebrated Eid. it called "Mudik".
back to Sungkem.. oldest like grand ma or grandpa sit down, then the younger took turns kneeling, head bowed, kissed her/his hand while apologizing and expressing regret that it may have been a lot of mistakes. then grandma or grandpa also expressed regret and apologized. will be so many tears and emotion when we do Sungkem.
after Sungkem, we eat Eid special foods like Ketupat, Opor Ayam, Rendang, etc.. whoah cholesterol everywheeree. then this is the best part when Eid, the younger will be "THR" collecting. lol. usually the kids will got many THR from everyone when they come to their home or meet them. THR is money given by the older to the younger.
especially in my home, we usually do Open House. its always make me crazy, because the big family of SuroDejoyo and everyone will come to my home. will be soooooooooo crowded. but i love them so much. then the second day we usually around visiting each house to apologize and forgive each other.
